Modern and Dynamic Digital Signage

Dynamic Digital Signage is a type of communication that uses electronic displays to show content and information. Digital signage screens can be programmed to show a mix of images, videos, and real-time data.

Modern and Dynamic Digital Signage

QL Digital signage software is different from broadcast TV because you have total control over your message.

You decide which content will play, on which screen it will be shown and how often it will be shown.

Dynamic digital signage lets you organize and deliver your content to one, many, or all screens no matter their location. You can also assign some content to play on specific screens within a group. This is above and beyond what broadcast TV can give you.

What can digital signage do?

Solutions like Navori Labs’ QL software are the base on which electronic signage networks are built. Here are a few examples of what digital signage you can create with a QL powered digital signage network.

Corporate digital signage

Many companies use dynamic digital signage dashboards to keep staff members up to date throughout the day. They can rely on QL’s Template and Ticker Designers to create and manage information channels for their employees. It’s a simple process.

Using QL’s Data Feed Manager, content managers add the data source so QL can fetch and publish the data to their screens. They use the Template Designer to lay out content zones and tables based on their needs.

Data feeds can also be customized using a range of custom  fonts. Also, company logos and other graphics can be added to the layout as needed.

Social media boards and instant messages

Social media is a great source of dynamic digital signage content that requires little effort to show. Use your own social media channels and populate your screens with updated information from your Facebook page or Twitter account.

Simply add your social media feeds to QL’s Data Feed Manager and QL Server will start updating your feeds. Assign related fields to your templates or tickers and you’re ready to publish  updated content to your screens.

QL syncs with your data sources regularly so new posts are displayed in real-time.

QL gives your business a market advantage through knowledge sharing.

You can show content hosted on your BI software of choice, or use our Template Designer to create your own custom designs. QL Templates let you format and combine the data with your own content and logos.

Improve your team’s decision making by showing live production data, sales stats and more, delivered straight to your screens.

Event schedules

QL makes it easy to display event schedules in lobbies, meeting rooms, and common areas. Emergency alerts and real-time messages

Companies often use dynamic digital signage to show emergency alerts and notifications. These messages are shown when dangerous events or emergencies happen. During these times, all scheduled content stops in order to display only the critical safety messages.

With QL, you can easily show escape routes, emergency notices, or other helpful information for as long as needed. Once the emergency is resolved, the screens go back to their regular content loop.

Emergency alerts can be triggered through a touch screen or physical button. They can also be activated using RSS/XML or social media feeds. Software developers have the option to integrate their alarm systems directly with the QL platform using the QL Digital Signage API, bypassing the software’s user interface entirely.

Interactive digital signage

Interactive digital signage is becoming more popular. Whether it’s an information kiosk in a lobby or a wayfinding screen in a mall, QL supports them all. All you need is an Android tablet or a touch screen enabled PC.

QL supports interactive content, like HTML5 apps. You can also trigger any third party content or app using QL to deliver content on any platform.

How does digital signage work?

QL has all the tools content managers and creatives need to program and maintain their digital screen network.

QL has two main components:

  • A backend content management server that handles every operation from end user access via an online dashboard, to delivering content to each media player.
  • A digital signage player software that uses schedules and rules to display content on audience facing digital screens.

Our Digital Signage software is offered in two versions — Essential and Professional:

  • QL Essential is Navori Labs’ entry level software. It runs on the same graphics engine as our QL Professional software but with a more basic feature set. Thus, QL Essential lets anyone publish high quality content to any digital signage screen in minutes.
  • QL Professional is our flagship software designed for the most demanding projects. QL Pro is available in cloud and on-premise versions.

What can you do with QL Essential?

  • Create and manage a simple content loop — display fullscreen content or templates you create with our Template Designer.
  • Organize content as you see fit — play a mix of images, videos, PPTs, PDFs, and templates in order or randomly during the day.
  • Set rules that control when content can be shown — pick which days and time periods you wish to show each item.
  • Use tags to restrict content to some screens — tagged content will only be shown where there is a match.
  • Assign transition effects to static images — pick from a list of quality transitions. You can even apply random effects.
  • Trim your videos without the need for third-party software — select the start and end frames to shorten videos without leaving QL Essential.
  • Design your own screen layouts using the built-in Template Designer — create attention grabbing layouts for your screens. Display any content in any sized zones.

  • Proof of playback reports engine — Generate reports that show where and when content has played. Share results with clients for billing purposes.
  • Advanced scheduling engine — Assign playlists to different time slots during the day to create dayparts. Merge playlist contents and assign content priority to deliver the best content mix to your screens.
  • Conditional playback rules — Use live data to improve your content. Display any content based on current weather, business data, product inventory levels, or any other live event. No user action is needed.
  • Conditional content triggering — Instantly triggers any content based on user created rules. Ideal for playing emergency messages like evacuation notices or fire alerts. Regular content continues once the emergency event is over.
  • Create domains for your users — QL Pro administrators control which tools users can see and use. Users assigned to a domain can’t view or use content and players that are in other domains. This is ideal for multi-tenant organizations.
  • Control what your users can do — User profiles control which features users can access in QL Pro. Create user accounts with view only rights all the way to administrator accounts. Select from existing user profiles or create your own (QL Pro on-premise only).

Frequently Asked questions

What is digital signage?

Digital signage is a form of communication that uses electronic displays to show visual information. These screens can be programmed to display different types of content, like images, videos, and real-time data, based on schedules or rules you set.

One important difference between digital signage and broadcast TV is the amount of control you have over the message you want to convey.

What is dynamic digital signage?

Dynamic digital signage refers to the use of digital displays to deliver dynamic, engaging, and interactive content to targeted audiences. Unlike traditional static signage, dynamic digital signage allows for real-time updates, content customization, and interactive elements, enabling businesses to deliver more impactful and relevant messages to their audience.

Here are some key features and benefits of dynamic digital signage:

  1. Real-time Content Updates: Dynamic digital signage allows for instant content updates and changes. Businesses can display up-to-date information, such as news, weather updates, social media feeds, or live data, ensuring that the displayed content is timely and relevant.
  2. Content Customization: Dynamic digital signage enables businesses to customize content based on various factors, including location, time of day, audience demographics, or specific events. This customization helps to deliver targeted messages and promotions that resonate with the audience.
  3. Interactive Elements: Dynamic digital signage can incorporate interactive elements such as touchscreens, motion sensors, or QR codes. These interactive features encourage audience engagement, allowing users to interact with the signage, access additional information, make selections, or participate in interactive experiences.
  4. Targeted Advertising: With dynamic digital signage, businesses can target specific audience segments based on demographics, location, or other parameters. This allows for personalized and targeted advertising campaigns, maximizing the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
  5. Measurable Analytics: Dynamic digital signage provides analytics and performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns. Businesses can track metrics such as impressions, dwell time, click-through rates, or conversion rates, gaining insights into the performance and ROI of their signage efforts.
Do I need an internet connection for dynamic digital signage?

Yes, an internet connection is typically required for dynamic digital signage. Dynamic digital signage involves displaying content that is regularly updated, such as real-time information, social media feeds, news updates, weather forecasts, and other dynamic content.

An internet connection enables the digital signage device to connect to a content management system (CMS) or cloud-based platform that allows you to manage and update the content. The CMS sends new content or updates to the signage device via the internet, ensuring that the display remains fresh and relevant.

Without an internet connection, the digital signage device would not be able to receive the necessary updates and content changes. However, it’s worth noting that some digital signage systems may offer limited offline capabilities, allowing you to store and display preloaded content temporarily when the internet connection is not available.

What is data-driven digital signage?

Data-driven digital signage refers to the use of data and analytics to personalize and optimize the content displayed on digital signage screens. It involves collecting, analyzing, and leveraging data to deliver targeted and relevant content to specific audiences or locations.

By integrating data sources such as customer demographics, behavior patterns, real-time data feeds, or other relevant information, data-driven digital signage allows for dynamic content customization. The content displayed on the screens can be tailored based on factors like audience preferences, time of day, location, weather conditions, or specific events.

The data can be sourced from various channels, including customer databases, sensors, social media feeds, mobile apps, or third-party data providers. Analyzing this data enables businesses to gain insights into their target audience, create more engaging and personalized content, and optimize the effectiveness of their digital signage campaigns.

Data-driven digital signage not only enhances the viewer experience but also allows businesses to measure the impact of their signage efforts, make data-backed decisions, and refine their content strategy over time.
